FAIR Forward
The German Development Cooperation initiative “FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All” strives for a more open, inclusive and sustainable approach to AI on an international level. To achieve this, FAIR Forward works together with seven partner countries: Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Indonesia, Uganda and India. Together, they pursue three main goals: 1) Access to Training Data and AI Technologies for Local Innovation, 2) Strengthen local technical know-how on AI, 3) Develop Policy Frameworks for Ethical AI, Data Protection and Privacy. The project is part of the “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development” program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.

Open for Good Alliance
The lack of localized training data of sufficient quality is one of the major obstacles for localized AI innovation in Africa and Asia. Therefore, Open for Good focuses on localized training data in Africa, Asia and beyond. Training data that is locally relevant and the related technical questions are often overlooked by initiatives which work on access to AI. Open for Good therefore provides a platform for the coordination and exchange of good practices that is currently needed.

International Network of AI Safety Institutes
Global leaders from 10 countries and the EU have agreed to launch an international network of AI Safety Institutes, building on the UK's initiative from last year. The "Seoul Statement of Intent toward International Cooperation on AI Safety Science" aims to accelerate the advancement of AI safety science through collaboration. This network will share information about AI models, monitor safety incidents, and promote safe, secure, and trustworthy AI development. The agreement, reached at the AI Seoul Summit, also includes the Seoul Declaration, which emphasizes human-centric, trustworthy, and responsible AI development. This initiative builds on the UK's leadership in AI safety and follows the establishment of similar institutes in countries like the US, Japan, and Singapore.
